ARIS Lessons Build a Strong Foundation and Adapt to Meet Individual Student Needs24028_STGS_ARIS_FOUNDATIONAL-SKILLS_ART_13-QuarterCircle-1

The lessons in the ARIS curriculum build upon each other, starting with foundational skills that are essential for advancing a child's academic abilities in reading, writing, math, and beyond.

Opening exercises develop essential life skills such as following instructions, sitting attentively, and understanding basic communication.

Later lessons prepare kids for success in the curriculum and beyond. In fact, these skills can be seen as learning to learn.

Learners progress systematically into early literacy, numeracy, and writing skills, at the pace that is right for them

ARIS: An Integrated Solution for Educatorsasian boy with ipad-1

ARIS is designed to create a continuous feedback loop from assessment, to lesson placement, to paired IEP goals, to data keeping, and back to assessment, so students are always on track and records are always up-to-date.

Starting with assessments, educators can identify student needs and establish personalized IEP goals. These goals are directly tied to specific lessons, ensuring targeted instruction that meets each student’s developmental milestones.

Educators can then track student progress through data-keeping tools, allowing for real-time adjustments and continuous feedback.

This integrated cycle—assessments, IEP goals, lessons, and data tracking—ensures that every aspect of a child’s education is connected, making ARIS a comprehensive solution for driving measurable growth and academic readiness.

Hear directly from our educators and parents how ARIS has transformed their education program

"With everything in one place ARIS makes it easy to teach any skill. The manipulatives, 3D objects and 2D images are easy to use and the ARIS curriculum contains enough variety to make it fun and engaging for the students while it helps student learn new vocabulary and generalize skills.  The online tool makes it easy to print data and activity sheets and the IEP goals to go with the lessons make IEP writing a breeze."

"We partnered with Stages Learning to conduct a needs assessment for our Special Education Programs Pre K - 12 to align our student needs with programs. Their consultants have been well received by our staff and commended for their knowledge and detail when gathering information to make recommendations for enhancing our existing programs and possibly establishing new programs. They spoke with numerous staff members across our 15 schools and were able to provide a quick turnaround with some emergent special education needs.”

ARIS is a curriculum that nicely aligns to not only state and core standards as well as the VB-MAPP. Our district has been able to align the ARIS curriculum to work on challenges noted on the VB-MAPP to increase language and communication skills for our students ages 3-5 years old."

Digging Deeper

How is ARIS Curriculum Organized

ARIS lessons are divided into 7 subject matter categories. Each category is subdivided into more specific content categories. Within the categories are a collection of lessons.

category gears

Gear - Approaches to Learning_Just Gear

Approaches to Learning

The Approaches to Learning content category contains the foundational lessons that prepare students for success in the Language Builder: ARIS program and beyond. In fact, the skills learned in this category can be seen as learning to learn. Examples include Attention & Imitation, Following Directions, Matching, Sorting & Classifying, Understanding Concepts of Time, and Recall & Recital.

Gear - Language_Just Gear

Language

Typically developing children pick up language from their environment so naturally that it is easy to forget there are discrete developmental processes at work. Children with learning delays or other challenges may have a harder time. The lessons in the ARIS Language content category are designed to provide students with basic language concepts and skills to help them communicate with the world around them, by naming and describing objects, making needs and desires known, and interacting or conversing with others.

Gear - Motor Skills_Just Gear

Motor Skills

Motor skills enable children to participate in social and play-related activities, such as coloring, crafts, and puzzles; sports and recreation; self-help activities like feeding, grooming, and dressing themselves; actions of independent living like opening containers, drawers, and doors; and academic skills, such as writing. The ARIS Motor Skills content category contains lessons that will support the development of the fine and gross motor skills most typically developing children acquire prior to entering kindergarten.

Gear - SocialEmotional_Just Gear

Social Skills & Emotions

Social skills are essential for all children as they learn to navigate relationships and engage with the world around them. Developing the ability to recognize emotions, communicate effectively, and interact positively with peers is crucial for building strong connections. ARIS Social Skills lessons help children acquire these important skills, supporting emotional understanding and fostering healthy relationships, both in and out of the classroom.

FR Gear-2

Functional Routines

Functional routines are the routine activities that are necessary for daily living and for establishing quality of life. If a student does not master the ability to complete these routines without assistance, they will need to rely on others to carry out the basic activities of independent living. When learned, these skills can be immediately applied to daily routines, having a substantial positive impact on the students and on their families. Language Builder ARIS Functional Routines lessons address major functional routines required for children to accomplish self-care, as well as participation in typical family and classroom practices.

Gear - Reading Readiness_Just Gear

Reading & Writing Readiness

Learning to read is a critical skill. Everything from vocabulary growth to performance across all major subjects at school is linked to reading ability. Conventional wisdom on typical academic progression is that until 4th grade children are learning to read. After 4th grade, they read to learn. The lessons in ARIS will introduce the student to print and narrative awareness, basic phonics, and sight reading skills. Completion of the ARIS Reading & Writing Readiness lessons will put students in a good place to transition to a formal reading and writing curriculum.

Gear - Math Readiness_Just Gear

Math Readiness

Even as infants, children are intuitively sensitive to mathematical concepts, such as quantity, well before they have any capacity to understand the concept of numbers. Parents and educators naturally build upon these early intuitions by noticing and naming numbers as they come up in the student’s environment. Before kids are ready to do formal mathematics they must understand concepts like visual discrimination of shapes, recognition of patterns, number recognition, counting, and sets. Math skills provide a foundation for critical life skills such as measuring, comparison, time, and money. Language Builder ARIS Math Readiness lessons cover these pre-mathematics concepts as well as some basic addition and subtraction.

Is ARIS good for homeschool students?

Yes! ARIS is a great resource for homeschooling families. It is designed to support learners of different levels beginning at the early learner stage of sitting and attending, working up to learn ready, writing and math skills. The lessons are easy to follow and the materials are part of the program so there is no additional prep work or need to improvise.

Can I buy ARIS on a payment plan?

Yes!  Stages has partnered with Affirm which provides a financed payment plan option for purchasers.  Just click on the “prequalify now” link next to the Affirm logo on the product you want to purchase for more information.

What age is ARIS for?

ARIS Stage 1 is designed for early learners mainly ages 3-6. Stage 2 aims at learners from about 6-9 years. It is better to think about the lessons in terms of skill level and need.

How difficult is the system for a parent to use?

It is very straight forward with lessons and materials ready to use. The lessons are easy to follow with simple data collection charts you can use to track progress if you like. The manual provides a guide to help you determine where to start your child and gives you tips for success. An ARIS 101 live onboarding can help you implement the system with confidence!

The cost feels high. Can you explain the pricing?

Language Builder ARIS is an extremely comprehensive, complete curriculum package. It includes all of the lessons, materials, data keeping sheets, assessments, standards correlations, communication sheets for communicating with parents and other caregivers, IEP goals, a comprehensive instruction manual, and much more!

Each of the ARIS components can be purchased separately if you already have some of the Language Builder cards or manipulatives, or if you would like to purchase the curriculum over time, as your student’s learning progresses.

Now with ARIS Online subscriptions, there are lower cost ways to use the ARIS Curriculum.
